I know how hard it can be trying to eat healthy. Next thing you know you’re staring at a huge cinnamon roll and wonder where all of your willpower went. The following tips are to help you jump start new habits of eating well that will serve you in your journey to fitness and health. During your regular meals, keep it simple. Focus on fruits, vegetables and lean protein. Don’t over complicate things. Stick to low-calorie, high-quality foods. Some of my personal favorites are eggs, bananas, protein shakes and zucchinis.
Go natural. Intentionally pick foods that are in their most natural state, also called “whole foods”. This can be items such as oatmeal, eggs, vegetables and lean meats. Take a look at the nutrition label of the foods that you are eating before you eat them. Do your best to pick the ones that have very little foreign ingredients and contain vitamins and minerals that your body wants and needs.
Another easy trick is to drink a glass of water before you eat. This simple step will fill you up and curb your hunger before having your main meal. Further, begin to think about your food as fuel for your workout. Ask yourself would you put low-quality gas in your expensive premium sports car? No. So don’t do that with your body! Fuel it with the highest quality foods.
How To Stay Motivated
Fitness and health can seem like a never-ending journey for some folks. Staying motivated, continuing to make the right choices, and keeping track of progress is very important. At the end of the day, it’s our habits that make or break our success in our health journey. The following tips are designed to remind you that it’s the practical things that will bring us to the finish line!
Plan your workouts into your phone. Treat it like an appointment or business meeting that you can’t afford to miss. Do this at the start of every week. Have a structured workout plan. Walk into the gym knowing exactly what you need to do. This takes the guesswork out of your gym time and allows you to go in there and execute your plan! Another thing to remember is don’t get discouraged. Be patient. One of the hardest things for people to do is have patience while they are transforming their bodies and getting healthy. You didn’t gain weight or become out of shape overnight so why expect overnight results from one week in the gym? Take it slow and learn to love the journey.
Be consistent. One of the worst things you can do is start your journey off strong and then suddenly fall off or stop completely. Our bodies are extremely adaptable, but that means you need to keep progressing and completing your workouts. Taking long amounts of time “off” will lead to reduced motivation. The longer you “take time off” the harder it will be to get back on the horse.
